Nowadays, it can be quite hard to justify paying the price of a new computer game. The price of new games are still as high as ever which can make it difficult for people to get the chance to play every game that they liked the look of! Even though this means that we are more picky when purchasing games, (which in turn makes game developers want to improve their games) it’s not a nice feeling when there are so many new releases that you simply cannot afford to buy. But this is where selling or trading in 2nd hand computer games comes in, it can really reduce the cost of any game that you want, whether it’s a new release or a pre-played game. You might be asking yourself what are the advantages of selling or trading in your games, and here are just some of them:
- Price Reduction – As mentioned above, games are usually expensive. Let’s say that you want a game that’s £45, and you trade in a relatively new game and you get £20 for it. This means that you’ll only have to pay £25 for the new game which is a decent saving.
- Get Rid Of Unwanted Games – If you constantly buy games every couple of weeks or even months, you’ll soon see that you have a huge amount of games that you will more than likely never play again. This would be a waste if you were to leave them gathering dust in your house, so why not trade them in? You’ll get some money or store credit for it plus someone else will enjoy the game. It’s a win-win situation really!
- Quick Money – If you’re really stuck for some money it could be a good idea to sell or trade in some games to get some quick money. Game stores will give you the money within minutes, so there’s no delay at all. However, if you’re using sites such as eBay or whatever you’ll obviously be waiting a little bit longer, but the benefit of sites such as eBay is that in most cases you’ll receive a much better price than what a game shop would offer you.
If you’re thinking about selling some of your games, or trading them in to a game shop, here are some quick tips to make sure you get the best value from your games:
- Act Fast – If you’ve a game that’s only a week or two old that you want to get rid of, it will be worth a decent amount of money. If you’re finished with it and decide that you’ll wait a few weeks before trying to sell or trade it, you’ll be in for a shock when you try to get rid of it. The value of the game will be significantly reduced even though you only waited a few weeks; there are a few reasons why this is, mainly due to the gaming industry moving on so fast with new games coming out just about every day.
- Store Credit/Money – If you’re trading in a game to a game shop, I’d always advise people to take store credit if they think that they’ll ever use that particular store at any point in the future – which most of us would! Unless you badly need money, it’s a good idea to take the store credit option since it’s always higher than the cash alternative.
